Back in September 2006, Bart Glover (one of our customers) was one of eighteen who travelled to visit Ethiopian coffee plantations with David McKernan. They visited the Illili Darartu Cooperative in Harar - this cooperative has a membership of 491 farmers who grow coffee at an elevation from 1650 to 2300 metres above sea level. They grow organic Harar long berry and Harar yellow beans.
The Illili Darartu village is near the district town of Bedeno and about 120km from the historical town of Harar and as you will see from some of the pictures David, Bart and the rest of the group camped in a plantation amongst the trees under the stars.
As you will see from the pictures below, Bart captured some amazing images of Harar City, The village of Illili Darartu and of some of the inspiring people he met along his way (published with permission.)
