January:David McKernan begins 19 month research project on coffee roasting and branding
September: David McKernan leaves the Campell Bewleys group.
January: David McKernan secures funding for the company
May: Java Republic moves into our first roastery
September: After three months of developing blends, Java Republic sells its first case of coffee to Weston Aerodrome. Java Republic begins trading with the aim of: Taking advantage of a gap in the premium market coffee sector in Ireland Sharing David McKernan's passion for fresh, handroasted coffee Setting the industry standard for ethics in coffee The company raises funds through BES support & Enterprise Ireland
Company becomes profitable in second year of trading.
December: Midlands distributor is appointed.
August: North East distributor is appointed.
July: West of Ireland distributor is appointed. South West of Ireland distributor is appointed.
August: Java Republic appoints Douglas Wallace as architects for the new Roastery.
September: Java Republic enters the retail market.
Company continues to expand product range with substantial growth in tea sales.
August: South East of Ireland distributors appointed
November: Northern Ireland distributor appointed.
October: New production facility and “The Roastery” coffee house opens.
