World of Coffee – Geneva 2025

Switzerland: known for chocolate, cheese… and now coffee!

World of Coffee descended onto Geneva last weekend for four full days of exhibitions, cuppings, workshops and competitions. Representing our team, Laura from Marketing and Aisling, our Quality Consultant, headed over to explore the latest innovations and sample some of the finest coffee the industry has to offer.

Our Limited Edition Coffee on the WCC Brew Bar

We were delighted to be one of four roasters on the World Coffee Championships Brew Bar where SCA Volunteers served our coffee to attendees across the four days. We launched a new limited edition coffee for the occasion, Don Claudio, a natural single origin from Costa Rica. With tasting notes of red and black grapes, blueberries, brown sugar and raspberry jam, this coffee boasts an SCA score of 86.5! Try it yourself at home, shop here.

And the cherry on top of the coffee was we got the opportunity to meet one of the producers whose coffee was selected to be used for Don Claudio. He was accompanied by Jonathan Duran, International Sales Manager from CoopeAgri – one of the largest cooperations in Costa Rica – representing over 3,000 very small producers.

New Faces and Reunions

World of Coffee isn’t just about discovering new trends and meeting new faces — it’s also a place for meaningful reunions within the coffee community. Last year, Laura travelled to Brazil for a packed week organised by DRWakefield and hosted by SMC Speciality Coffee. While there, she had the pleasure of meeting Ucha, President of the Brazil Speciality Coffee Association and owner of Fazendas Caxambú & Aracaçú. It was such a lovely surprise to bump into her again in Geneva — Ucha always gives the best hugs! We’re excited for Jeff and David to visit her farm again later this month.

Showcasing Our Premium Packaging on the World Stage

Another highlight from Geneva was seeing our new premium packaging featured on the Coffee Design Awards Wall — a proud moment for the whole team! Designed in collaboration with the brilliant minds at Honey Creative, the range showcases our commitment to quality, sustainability, and storytelling through design. If you want to dive deeper into the creative process and the coffees behind the packaging, you can read more in our blog here.

Game-Changing Gear: The Link

One gadget that really caught our eye was the Link, originally designed to make roasting more accessible for producers. It comes in a sturdy, portable case for easy transport and can roast small batches of around 100g. You can connect it to an app on your phone or laptop, and you don’t need to be a roasting expert to operate it. This year, some roasting champions even used the Link, making it an exciting gadget to watch. Maybe it’s time we get one for our coffee lab… what do you think?

Tasting Two Unique Geishas: Colombia and Brazil

We tasted a lot of incredible coffees, but one that truly stood out was the specialty coffee at the Transylvania stand by Merron. We sampled La Divisa, a Geisha from Colombia, with vibrant tasting notes of raspberry jam, tropical fruits, sage, and candied cherries. Right beside it was a Geisha from Brazil, offering a completely different flavour profile — bright lemongrass, lemon candy, aromatic herbs, and eucalyptus. Both coffees were expertly roasted and brewed by the Merron team, showcasing two beautifully distinct expressions of Geisha.

Our Experience At World Of Coffee in Geneva

“Once again, World of Coffee and the people who attended amazed me, it was an incredible atmosphere, a lot of new design, flavour and faces.

My favourite highlight would be brewing at the DRWakefield stand and getting to serve our limited edition coffee to one of the farmers that is part of CoopeAgri.

The coolest thing I seen and which was new to me was the Izaga grinder. I really enjoyed meeting everyone who came to visit us when we were brewing on the WCC Brew bar!” – Aisling

“Every year I attend World of Coffee, there are more connections to make and more familiar faces to greet. It’s an incredible whirlwind of connection, learning, celebration, and of course… COFFEE!

A truly full-circle moment came when I handed a bag of our Don Claudio coffee, roasted and packed in Dublin, back to one of the Costa Rican producers whose beans were selected for Don Claudio. It was a powerful reminder of the global journey behind every cup.

As always, catching up with friends from my Brazil origin trip and seeing our premium packaging featured on the Coffee Design Awards Wall made the experience even sweeter. WOC always leaves me inspired and energised…I can’t wait for Brussels 2026!” – Laura
